VX-661 ist eine Untersuchungsverbindung, die die Reifung von Delta F508-Mutanten des Mukoviszose-Transmembranleiterreglers (CFTR) fördert. Die Delta F508 CFTR stellt eine Klasse von CFTR-Mutation dar, die durch die Bearbeitung von fehlfalteten CFTR-Proteinen und einer verringerten Anhäufung des Proteins an der Zelloberfläche gekennzeichnet ist. VX-661 soll den Menschenhandel von CFTR an die Epithelzellenmembran erleichtern. Es kann mit dem CFTR-Potentiator-Ivacaftor (Punkt Nr. 15145 ) kombiniert werden, um sowohl die CFTR-Anhäufung als auch die Öffnung an der apikalen Epitheloberfläche zu stimulieren.
